Southern Marine - Just 5 days to go
We are finally just a few days from switching the lights on and opening the doors of www.southern-marine.co.uk with our 1st of February Launch ! A mixture of extreme excitement and mild fear fill the air here as I scramble to make sure everything is in order, stock levels are adequate, photography is complete and the website operational and polished. These last few weeks may be the hardest I have worked in my life! Southern Marine clothing, the new nautical preppy brand is so close to being a reality.
Monday, we spent the day on the beach in Suffolk, completing an incredible photo shoot with Max Rogers from Storm Modelling Agency. As well as looking great, Max, along with the entire production team were a class act from start to finish and made the entire experience more like a fun day out at the beach, than a stressful ‘We have to get some great pictures for the website’ experience. My extreme thanks to all involved. They captured my vision of nautical preppy all day long. I have not seen the finished product yet but I am sure the pictures will be fantastic.
So, February 1st is just five days away. Many of you reading this mail are old friends and colleagues going way back many years, that have very kindly signed up to Southern Marine, in support of me and my efforts. I have tried to thank you all personally, where time has allowed, but may I just take the opportunity to say a genuine thank you once again for your endorsement and support. The letters of encouragement have been really generous and are truly appreciated. Now I just have to make sure I don’t let you all down ! The push for a wider audience is always key to the success of a venture such as this and hopefully the quality and design of the garments will set forth the ‘word of mouth’ marketing campaign…. probably the best way ever to get word out there. As I have said before, please feel free to tell as many friends and family about the brand and hopefully we can reach increasing numbers of interested people.
Production issues on various lines have thrown a few spanners in the works in January, but with just one or two exceptions, almost all products will be ready next week.
Hats, Scarves, Gloves will be on the list, catching the end of this winter spell, but mostly the garments are tailored towards spring and summer, with T-Shirts, Polo’s, light sweaters and Gilets providing the bulk of the range. It’s my intention to refresh designs and garments every 2-3 weeks, adding new creations regularly, whilst I find my feet with what people like, and inevitably what they don’t. It will be our intention to mail all packages within 24 hours of the order being placed. That said, in the first few days/weeks I am sensible enough to know there will doubtless be teething problems so please bear with us and except my apologies in advance if packages run a day or too late to begin.
Postage will be free within the UK, with flat rates established (to initially simplify the process) to Europe, America etc. I will have these numbers later this week, but it’s our firm aim to keep these costs as low as possible for the customer, given free postage being close to the norm these days. This will be monitored regularly and tweaked where possible to bring the cost down as time progresses.
